Nominations Invited: Guide the national AAUP through 2012 and beyond

The December 15th deadline for national AAUP officer nominations is a little more than two weeks away. Any active AAUP member who receives the endorsements of six active members will be placed on the ballot for election ( Read more about the nominations process.)

The national AAUP is seeking nominees for the following officer positions:

President
First Vice President
Second Vice President
Secretary Treasurer

There are also vacancies on the Council, the AAUP’s national governing board, in the following districts:

Council Districts:

I	Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah
II	Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin. Wyoming
III	Michigan
IV	Arkansas, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia
V	Alabama, Canada, Florida, Foreign, Georgia, Guam, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, the Virgin Islands, West Virginia
VI	Ohio
VII	New Jersey
VIII	New York
IX	Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont
X	Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island

At Large - There are also three at-large Council positions available.

The national officers and the Council are responsible for overseeing the affairs of the Association, including setting dues, overseeing finances, establishing standing committees, and promoting the exchange of ideas between the membership, the leadership, and the staff. The Council also acts on policy recommendations from the Assembly of State Conferences (ASC), the umbrella organization for individual state conferences; and the Collective Bargaining Congress (CBC), the umbrella organization for local AAUP collective bargaining chapters and affiliates. Council generally meets in person twice a year in Washington, D.C.

The deadline to submit all required materials is Thursday, December 15, 2011.

The AAUP Nominating Committee will issue its report by Tuesday, December 20, 2011; the report will be posted on the AAUP website.
